The Story
One Hundred Years of History
“Some treasures are measured in carats.
Others are measured in centuries.”
—
Speyside, 1824
The Macallan was among the first distilleries licensed in Scotland following the Excise Act of 1823, on the banks of the River Spey. Its name has since become synonymous with sherry-cask maturation and patient craft.
—
The 1926 Vintage
Spirit distilled at The Macallan in 1926 was famously matured for some six decades before bottling. Bottles from this vintage have become among the most celebrated objects in whisky collecting.

A Century Preserved
Rare whisky has evolved from a drink into a recognised field of collecting, where provenance, condition and history define significance. Every surviving object carries the passage of time.
Historical context refers to The Macallan and the 1926 vintage generally. It does not suggest this bottle is identical to any previously auctioned example.
